Location
Institut
d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargèse (IESC) is located on the seashore
of the island of Corsica, 50 km north of Ajaccio and 2 km south of
Cargèse,
a pleasant 800 inhabitants village of considerable charm and historic
interest
(see pictures).The
village contains most of the services you may require, such as a
car rental agency, garages, post office, bank, restaurants, shops,
pharmacy
and medical facilities, except
for a travel agency.
Moreover, be
advised that not all business accept payment by credit
card.
Therefore, do not forget to come with your cash, travellers cheques
or/and
French
cheque book. The
institute
is located within a 20 minutes walk from the village, with no public
transportation,
it might be wise to wear comfortable walking shoes and to have a
flashlight
to make the walk easier by night.

Trip to Corsica
The best way to achieve
Cargèse is to joint first Ajaccio. Corsica airports can be reached either by plane from Paris,
Marseille and Nice or by boat either from French coast (Marseille, Toulon, Nice)
or from Italian coast (Savona, Livorno, Pionbino
or Genova
- Porto Torres/Sardinia).
High speed boat (NGV) are available from Toulon, Nice and Livorno. Please have
your return travel arrangements already booked.
Departures from
Arrival
Participants
are expected to
arrive at IESC by their own on Sunday afternoon (after 6:00 pm) and to
leave not later
than Saturday morning. If necessary, a
bus transport from
(and to) Ajaccio Airport will be organized by IESC, further informations
will be provided later on.
Buses
service Ajaccio - Cargèse twice daily, except Sundays (Call Ajaccio
central station tel: +33
(0)4 95
51 55 45).
A
taxi can be booked through the Institute for around 85 euros during the
week and 100 euros during the evening or public holidays.
Car
rental at low rates is also possible through the Institute.
By
car from Ajaccio, follow direction "Calvi
par la côte"
(or alternatively "Calvi").
Accommodation & Meals
Accommodation is provided for all participants, either
at the institute or in the village (apartments or hotel). The
apartments are fully furnished (kitchen utensils, household linen).
Please specify in the registration form with who you want to share the
room and/or the apartment. Alternatively, for nature lovers,
camping sites are arranged in the shade of olive trees. For
campers who do not wish to bring their own equipment : tents, mattresses, sleeping bags with sheets are
available (please call to check availability).

WARNING : Any stay apart from

- Breakfast is served only for people
housed in Institute's rooms, campers and hotels (it is included
in the price). For those who are housed in apartments, it must be managed by their own.
- Lunch (10 €) is
served at the Institute (the accompanying persons must book in advance).
- Dinner is to be borne by
participants, it can be
taken either
in restaurants (approx.15 - 25 €) or in the apartments.

soon as possible (dead line :4 May
2008). If your registration is
accepted you will receive a confirmation email message.
The registration fees
are 200 euros. They account for all IESC services (amphitheatre,
internet, administration..). They can be paid by bank transfer to
