RESUME
Après des décennies de
recherche, la quête des sources de rayonnement gamma de
très haute énergie a abouti à la naissance d'une
discipline à part entière de l'astrophysique. Près
d'une centaine de sources émettant dans le domaine des
très hautes énergies, 100GeV-100 TeV, ont
été découvertes récemment, ouvrant la voie
à l'étude des processus d'accélération et
d'émission au sein de la Galaxie, mais aussi dans le domaine
extraglactique.
Nous commencerons par un rappel historique,
suivi par l'exposé des techniques de détection dans ce
domaine d'énergie, en insistant sur la plus efficace d'entre
elles, celle de l'imagerie Tcherenkov des gerbes
atmposphériques. Une vue d'ensemble des résultats
scientifiques sera ensuite proposée avec un zoom sur certains
sujets choisis subjectivement par l'auteur.
