Venue & Travel


The school will be held on the site of the Observatoire de Haute Provence (OHP), near the village of Saint Michel l'Observatoire.

A bus service is organized by the school. The bus will be identified with a panel "OHP".
Arrival : Monday 23 May  from
  • Marseille Provence airport at 10:20 : Upon your arrival get out the hall of the airport and join the bus park (opposite the entrance to Hall 4)
  • Aix-en-Provence TGV (railways station) at 10:50 : Upon the arrival cross the railway by a bridge towards the docks (departure) and get out the railway station (exit Zola), go to your left to reach the parking lot.

In addition, transport logistics can be organized with participants vehicles, more information will be communicated in due course.

If you do not choose the bus service organized by the school, you can go to either to Aix-en-Provence or Marseille, before reaching  Manosque by train or bus where we will pick you (at your demand), or you can book a taxi within OHP agreements.

Specify all the information about of your arrival and departure in the questionnaire so that we can advise you.


Arriving by:

train (SNCF) to Aix-en-Provence TGV or Marseille Saint Charles, and a connexion to Manosque (train of bus).

plane to Marseille Provence airport and take a bus to Manosque.


your own vehicle, use maps (Michelin or Mappy). Please, comply with the terms of access to OHP. Be aware that the guest house is located on a site of astronomical observation, hence you must drive your vehicle with pilot light exclusively.

Accommodation : Participants will be accommodated primarily in the guest house Maison Jean Perrin (MJP) and in its Annex. Solely the sheets and towels are provided (do not forget to take your soaps, toothpaste, etc ...).

A limited number of rooms may be booked at the hotel (Hotel l'Observatoire) or at guest houses in the village or nearby. If you choose these solutions you will pay your living expenses on site (food and lodging).

It is strongly recommended to bring comfortable shoes for stony paths, sun protection and a flashlight, for daily walks within the site.


In general, the weather in May enable to enjoy the pleasant surroundings of the OHP, in addition to cultural events in and around Forcalquier.
