TITLE Interaction of two charges in a magnetic field AUTHOR Diogo PINHEIRO - joint work with R.S. MacKay (University of Warwick) ABSTRACT The interaction of two charges moving in R2 in a constant magnetic field can be formulated as an Hamiltonian system with 4 degrees of freedom. We prove that we can always reduce this Hamiltonian system to one with 2 degrees of freedom and that, for certain values of the conserved quantities and choices of parameters we obtain an integrable system. Then we proceed to an analysis of the behaviour of the reduced system in order to obtain information about the dynamics of the initial 4 degrees of freedom system.
