Practical information
If you arrive to Marseille by train or airplane, you can reach the
campus of Luminy either by taxi or by metro+bus. It takes more or
less one hour to get to Luminy from the train station by public
transportation. To get to Luminy from the airport by a public
transportation you have to first go to the train station, which takes
additional 35 minutes. The directions can be found on the following
web-pages:
http://www.cirm.univ-mrs.fr/web.ang/presentation/acces.php
http://www.lirmm.fr/~monteil/hebergement/cirm/
(the latter one is not completely up-to-date: it was prepared for a
2007 conference but may still be helpful).
The school and the conference will take place in the campus of
Luminy, in amphi 8, batiment B (attention: there are two "batiment
B", the conference hall is circled in green on the attached map).
There would be a small school preceding the conference; the current
paragraph concerns only participants of the school, and only those of
them, who are lodging in dormitories (which is the same as university
residence). This is a "by default" lodging for school participants.
You are supposed to have an explicit confirmation from the organizers
that a room is booked for you (this confirmation was sent in our
letter from April 23). The residence itself is located in "batiment
A", circled in purple on the attached map. You can get your key on
Wednesday, June 17, from 10am till 10pm at CIRM; one of the
organizers (Erwan Lanneau, Pascal Hubert or Anton Zorich will be
there). After 10pm you can get the keys of your room in "batiment B"
(the one which is circled in purple on the attached map); there will
be somebody there during all night. Those who pay for the lodging,
have to visit the hexagonal building "Bureaux du CROUS" (see the
map). The offices of "Bureaux du CROUS" are open from 9am-12:30 from
Monday to Friday and 1:30pm-3:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. For
Sunday dinner only, there will be a buffet in CIRM (7pm until 10pm).
Note that there will be no meal service neither for Saturday evening
nor for Sunday lunch on campus. There are no restaurants or bars, or
shops to buy something to eat on the campus, neither on Saturday
evening or on Sunday noon (the nearest shop is "Geant Casino" about
30mn by walk or 10mn by bus).
Participants of the conference having lodging confirmations from the
organizing committee will stay either in CIRM (number 19 on the map)
or in the dormitories ("batiment A" circled in purple on the map);
you was informed whether your are lodged in CIRM or in the dormitory
in our previous letter.
The current paragraph concerns those participants, who are lodged in
CIRM (and who have a corresponding confirmation from the organizing
committee). If you arrive on Sunday, June 21, please note, that you
can obtain keys of your room at the reception of the CIRM on Sunday
starting from 5pm. If you are arriving earlier on Sunday, you will
have access to the building but not to your room (till 5pm). From 5pm
till 11pm on Sunday a member of the organizing committee or a member
of the CIRM staff will be present at the reception of CIRM. For late
arrivals: an envelope with your name written on it and with a key
from your room would be left for you near the reception desk after
the closure of the reception at CIRM. For Sunday dinner, there will
be a buffet (7pm until 10pm) at CIRM. Note that the last meal service
at CIRM is a breakfast of Saturday, June 27; in particular, there is
no lunch or dinner on Saturday, June 27!
The current paragraph concerns those participants of the conference,
who are lodged in dormitories (and who have a corresponding
confirmation from the organizing committee). You will stay in
"batiment A" (the one, which is circled in purple on the map). If you
arrive to Luminy on Sunday between 5pm and 10pm, you can get your key
at CIRM; one of the organizers (Alex Eskin, Erwan Lanneau, Pascal
Hubert or Anton Zorich will be there). After 10pm you can get the
keys of your room in "batiment B" (see the map); there will be
somebody during all night. Those who pay for the lodging, have to
visit the hexagonal building "Bureaux du CROUS", see the map. (The
offices are open from 9am-12:30 from Monday to Friday and
1:30pm-3:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). For Sunday dinner only,
there will be a buffet in CIRM (7pm until 10pm). Note that there will

the campus, neither on Saturday evening or on Sunday noon (the

The current paragraph concerns participants of the school only. The
talks will take place in amphi 8, batiment B (attention: there are
two "batiment B", the conference hall is circled in green on the
attached map). The meals will be served at the CROUS ("Restaurant
Universitaire" on the map) on Thursday and Friday breakfast, lunch
and dinner. The restaurant serves from 7:30am till 10:00am, then from
11:30am till 1:45pm, and than from 6:30pm till 8pm. It would be
better to have meals in one group; we'll tell you more details upon
arrival. On Saturday lunch we will organize a picnic on the campus.
There would be no meal service on Saturday evening and on Sunday
breakfast and lunch. On Sunday dinner there would be a buffet at
CIRM.
For participants from French universities and from CNRS: n'oubliez
pas vos ordres de missions sans frais pour l'h?bergement si votre
s?jour est pris en charge par les organisateurs.
Participants of the school arriving before Wednesday, June 17, and
participants of the conference arriving before Sunday, June 21, and
having lodging confirmation from the organizers should contact us to
discuss possible special arrangements.
All participants of the school and/or the conference lodging outside
of CIRM were supposed to send us information on the date and time of
their arrival to Luminy. Please do send it if you did not do it yet.
