No, not abandoned by civilization but by their host Arab countries.  Between
1945 and 1970, a huge number of refugees were absorbed including a large
number of Jews who fled Muslim countries and absorbed by Israel.  Only in
Egypt, Jordan and Labonon was there a conscious policy to keep the refugees
in camps in order to use as a weapon against Israel.

I suspect this message is not welcome in this group but it is a turth that
should be faced.
