About me

I have a background in theoretical physics. I got my Master's degree in 2014 at the University of Pisa (Italy), with a thesis on a novel modification of General Relativity explaining the phenomenon of cosmic acceleration without the need of a "cosmological constant", developed during an Erasmus Placement at the University of Geneva under the supervision of M. Maggiore.

In 2017 I got my PhD at the Insitut de Physique Théorique of the University of Paris-Saclay with a scholarship from the French "Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique", under the supervision of F. Vernizzi. My thesis covered the "Effective Field Theory of Dark Energy", a field-theoretical approach to test General Relativity with observations of the Large Scale Structures of the Universe and of the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation.

After my PhD, between 2017 and 2019 I had experience in the private sector in the field of data science/AI, between Paris and Roma, mainly working on deep learning for text data.

I then decided to re-start fundamental research and worked for 3 years (2019-2022) as a postdoc at the Department of Theoretical Physics at the University of Geneva, in the group of M. Maggiore. My research was focussed on statistical methods for gravitational-wave cosmology and next-generation ground-based gravitational-wave experiments.

From October 2022 to March 2023, I then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Milan-Bicocca, within the ERC project "GWMining" led by D. Gerosa, being interested in the intersection between gravitational-wave population studies, cosmology, and statistical inference methods.

From April 2024 I hold a "Chaire of Excellence" tenure-track position at the Centre de Physique Théorique at Aix-Marseille University, France.

I am a member of the Einstein Telescope collaboration, where I coordinate one of the divisions of the Observational Science Board, and of the Virgo collaboration, where I contribute to the Cosmology working group.

When not cursing in front of a python script, I like training in a Muay Thai gym, cooking risotto, having "aperitivo", staying in the open air and in the mountains in particular, and other things that do not go in a CV.
