- Galactic dust in total and polarized emission
Abstract
This
course on Galactic Dust is to be related to the course by F. Boulanger
on the Galactic magnetic field, and on Galactic Foregrounds.
I will present our current knowledge of interstellar dust, with a
particular focus on the optical properties of dust at high latitude, in
unpolarized en polarized emission. I will detail how the fluctuations
of dust polarized emission is intrincated with various
not-well-constrained physics : the structure and turbulence of the
magnetic field, the variation of grain alignment, and the variations of
dust properties, and present what we have learnt about this from Planck.
