Cours
After a brief presentation of the historical relevance of X-ray astrophysics contributions to fundamental physics (window on the “extreme universe”, e.g. black holes, evidence for dark matter in clusters), I will discuss three current/forthcoming opportunities for X-ray astrophysics to shed light on physics beyond the standard model of particle physics and gravitation.
Chapitres
  1. Introduction
  2. The identification of dark matter (notable example of sterile neutrino dark matter)
  3. The discovery of light particles mixing with photons (notable example of axions and axion-like particles)
  4. Probing matter in extreme conditions (new states of matter, strong gravity tests)
