The center of my research interest is the hamiltonian mechanics, either classical or quantum, by a Lie algebraic approach. And the generalisation of the perturbation theory for near integrable systems, for instance without assuming the existence of action-angle variables.
Or the quantum version of the KAM theory.

One of the applications is the hamiltonian control of chaotic motion. For instance in the magnetically confined fusion plasmas.
Another application is the rigorous derivation and simplification of the gyrokinetic theory: the transport of particles in strong turbulent electromagnetic field, and when the retro-action (radiation) of these particles on the field cannot be neglected, as in Tokamaks (like ITER).
